Completing a Pre-University course in Engineering in Malaysia sets students up for a basic understanding of subjects either related to or under Engineering. There being several branches of Engineering students can pave their way through such as Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering etc., any course prior a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering must be more general rather than anything specific as well.
In Malaysia, students have the option of choosing from a variety of Pre-University courses in order to enter Engineering in university. However, it is crucial that students ensure the subjects taken up by them meet entry requirements into Engineering universities. For example, a Foundation in Engineering or Foundation in Science course would work well, as well as Science-stream subjects during an A-Level course. With other Pre-University programmes in Malaysia such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or the American Degree transfer Programme, Engineering streams may be chosen and are accepted widely in Malaysia as well, considering many higher education institutions cater to a variety of Pre-University programmes.
