About University of Warwick

The University of Warwick is globally connected, forward-looking and entrepreneurial. We create new ways of thinking and achieving: making us stand out from our competitors and the more ‘traditional universities’ and creating an inspiring place to study and undertake research. Warwick is one of the UK’s great success stories. In less than fifty years since being founded we’ve become one of the UK’s best universities, consistently at the top of UK league tables and we’re rapidly climbing the international league tables of world class universities.

We’re a university that champions independent thinking and as well as being founded, first and foremost, on academic excellence, a key driver of the Warwick success story so far is our entrepreneurial spirit - a key strength is our relevance to society and our close links with business and industry. Companies tap into Warwick knowledge to develop their own strengths and ensure they remain at the cutting edge within their industries. And that cutting edge insight is developed out of truly world class research: Warwick ranks 7th overall in the UK according to the latest Research Assessment Exercise.

To understand how Warwick has come so far in such a short space of time is to understand the character of the University. The success of Warwick, underpinned by innovation, entrepreneurialism and academic excellence, is driven by the exceptional talent of our staff, students and alumni.

Accommodation

Campus accommodation
Warwick Accommodation has over 6,380 bedrooms for the 2014/2015 academic year across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate residences. Each of the campus residences is fully managed and has an excellent network of support staff in the Residential Life Team. All rooms are self-catering.

Off campus accommodation
We manage a large portfolio of leased houses off campus in Coventry, Leamington Spa and Kenilworth for those students not living in campus accommodation. These houses provide over 2,000 bedrooms for Warwick students. Warwick Accommodation will give assistance to any full time student looking for off campus accommodation.

Campus

The University of Warwick has a lively, cosmopolitan campus with its own shops, banks, bars and restaurants, making it an exciting place to live and work with everything you could need close at hand. There is a great sense of community at Warwick – the campus is home to students and staff from over 120 different countries representing a diversity of backgrounds, but also provides a great resource for the local community, with excellent facilities open to the public such as Warwick Arts Centre and the University Sports Centre.

This university campus is constantly evolving and developing: Warwick Arts Centre, including Butterworth Hall, underwent a £6.9 million redevelopment that was completed in Spring 2009, and January 2010 saw the opening of the newly rebuilt Students' Union building. A brand new hall of residence, Bluebell, opened for the start of the 2011-2012 academic year alongside a new Physics and Chemistry building, and Sherbourne, another new hall of residence, opened in 2012. In 2014 we are adding a a five storey extension to the Warwick Business School (WBS) building. Find out more about recent investments on the Estates Projects timeline.

The campus occupies 290 hectares on three adjacent sites: Central campus, Gibbet Hill campus and Westwood campus. These are characterised by pleasant lakes and luscious woods, magnificent flowers and charming landscaped gardens. But whilst the campus has much greenery to boast, inside the buildings, ground-breaking research is taking place and academics and students are working together to further their knowledge and work towards new academic objectives and goals.

The University is located in the heart of England, adjacent to the city of Coventry - 3 miles (5 kilometres) from the city centre - and on the border with Warwickshire. The University of Warwick is justifiably proud of the environment within which it is set - this is a great place to live, work, research and study.
