“We take great pride in developing world-class graduates and award winners who create a positive impact wherever they go. Being recognised as Malaysia’s best-performing Cambridge GCE A-Level institution is truly an honour,” expressed Ruth Cheah, Director of the Cambridge GCE A-Level programme at Sunway College.
Sunway College once again excelled at the November 2025 Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards, with 11 students achieving 12 distinctions in the Cambridge International A Level and AS Level examinations. They were recognised for their exceptional accomplishments, earning accolades such as Top in Malaysia, Top in the World, Best Across Four, and High Achievement.
Achieving Top in the World for the Cambridge International AS Level in Mathematics are Ethan Lim Sheng Jie, Jack Hii Lu Jie, and Tham Guo Jun.
Students who attained the Top in Malaysia accolade in the Cambridge International AS Level examinations are Chay Ze Huan in Computer Science, Chew Lay Onn in Chemistry, and Claire Chan Wei Sven and Darrell James Puvan in Literature in English. Meanwhile, the Top in Malaysia recipients for the Cambridge International A Level examinations are Julius Lee Jun Tao in Psychology, Oo Sin Rou in Accounting, and Wong Yu Xuan in Further Mathematics.
Chew Lay Onn was also honoured with the Best Across Four award at the AS Level. He attributed his success in both awards to Sunway College, crediting the lecturers for imparting skills and values beyond the syllabus.
“I often see students studying diligently around campus wherever there are tables and seats — that really inspired me to study harder,” he shared. “The diverse environment at Sunway College has broadened my perspectives through interactions with peers from various states and countries, each bringing their own unique viewpoints.”
Student Wong Jie Ren was awarded with High Achievement for the AS Level in Thinking Skills.
Sunway College was further represented by a Cambridge GCE A-Level alumnus, Joe Chong Zhao Jo, invited as the Outstanding Cambridge Alumnus to address the audience during the ceremony.
“To all students out there, my advice is simple: work hard and learn how to learn. Lifelong learning and discipline form the foundation of everything you will do. Find your own rhythm of effort and curiosity. How you do one thing is how you do everything, and the attitude you bring to any subject will shape the person you become,” Chong inspired.
To date, Sunway College has achieved almost 600 OCLA awards, marking a remarkable legacy of consistent high performance on the global stage.
