About University of Leeds

The University of Leeds is based in the city of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It was formed in 1831 as Leeds School of Medicine, it gained University status in 1887 and was a part of Victoria University. It soon officially became University of Leeds in 1904.

The University offers a huge range of full-time and part-time undergraduate and postgraduate programs overs its nine faculties: Faculty of Arts, Faculty of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Business, Faculty of Education, Social Sciences and Law, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Environment, Faculty of Mathematics and Physical Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health, and Faculty of Performance, Visual Arts and Communications.

Libraries:
The library is spread over four locations, and houses 2.78 million books, 26,000 print and electronic journals, 6,000 electronic books and 850 databases, making it one of the largest UK research libraries.

Computing:
Over 9,000 personal computers available across the campus, with high speed Wi-Fi network that covers most of campus.

Accommodation:
Providing catered and self-catered accommodation

Students' Union (Leeds University Union (LUU)):
Serving student advice centre, bars, shops, and clubs.

Performing arts & culture:
Houses auditorium, the Alec Clegg Studio, experimental studio theatre, dance studio, technical workshops and etc

Featuring a swimming pool, sports hall, fitness suite and equipment, a climbing wall, class studios, squash courts and etc.

The Refectory:
Providing venue for gigs and music events, as well as the main catering outlet on campus

The city owns excellent public transport, making it easy to get around the city. It takes only 20 minute walk from the campus to Leeds city station. Leeds provides the best world class art collection, theatre, museum, and a year long programmes. 

Accommodation

The majority is located off campus. Most are located within two miles of the University, some are a little further afield, up to 3 miles. But no matter whether a residence in on or off campus, they are all located in some great areas of Leeds and on major bus routes, so getting to and from campus and the city centre is easy.
