UM Wins Moot Court Competition

Organised by the Malaysian Competition Commission (MyCC), the event saw over 25 participants comprising students majoring in law from top school including International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Universiti Utara Malaysia. The event was held on 18 October at the Menara SSM@Sentral, Kuala Lumpur.
UM, which was represented by Sharon Kaur Jessy, Nadiah Aiman Nazri, K. Vinodhan, Lisa Natasha Hamdi, and Hanan Khaleeda Fadzil, won RM3,000 and a trophy. Meanwhile,IIUM bagged second prize and took home RM1,500 and a trophy.
UiTM student Siti Nur Dinie Mohd Zaidi was helmed as the title for ‘Best Debater’ in the preliminary round, while Sharon Kaur Jessy from UM was best debater in the finals.
IIUM won the Best Overall Written Argument category.
According to the chairman of MYCC, Tan Sri Siti Norma Yaakob, the intention of this competition is to increase knowledge and understanding of students from higher education institutions.
"In a way, such a programme can further promote education and research related to competition law in Malaysia," she said.
