RM420 Million Allocated to Build Three New Polytechnics

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh announced that three new polytechnics will be built this year. The plan is to locate the polytechnics in Perak, Sabah and Terengganu. The minister received a total of RM420 million from the government to build all three polytechnics within one year.
Idris announced that the ministry received an allocation of RM180 million from the government to build a permanent campus for the Besut Polytechnic in Terengganu, RM220 million for the Bagan Datok Polytechnic in Perak, and RM20 million for the Metro Polytechnic in Tawau, Sabah.

Some details of the project were shared during the ground-breaking ceremony of the Besut Polytechnic in Kampung Raja last 18 March. As much as 1,200 students will benefit from the new polytechnic once it is built in two years
In addition, two additional courses will be introduced at the campus in the field of Creative industry. The new courses, Diploma in Craft Industry and Diploma in Batik and Fashion Designing, aims to meet the needs of the country’s digital batik and creative industry in the future.
‘‘Our country is moving forward and requires a number of experts in this field,’’ according to Idris.
