KUALA LUMPUR, 7th JULY 2018 - WOBB, a job portal that specializes in attracting Gen Y talent, recently organized “The Awesome Career Fair Vol. 4” (TACF) at Tujo Bar-serrie & Grill, Ascott Kuala Lumpur.
The event, aiming to help employers and candidates chat in a casual setting, gathered 570 shortlisted candidates out of a whopping 3700 applications to meet with 30 companies ranging from MNCs to startups. Participating companies included Shell, Celcom Axiata, TIME Internet, AmBank Group, L’Oreal and more. Jobseekers and employers were able to mingle and socialise at ease while being served with a choice of free alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and yummy pizza.
“I think candidates and employers are much more relaxed which enables both parties to share a certain knowledge and insight, from expectations, culture and experiences”, shared Lai Wai Fong from Graaab JaGaApp, a security app company.
Traditionally, employers would first conduct a phone interview followed by face-to-face interviews to further evaluate a candidate, all of which consumes a lot of time and usually forms a mismatch of perception between companies and candidates. Thus, WOBB initiated TACF to ease the process by manually screening candidates prior to the event to ensure that only relevant and high quality job seekers are prioritised to meet with the companies at TACF.
Toni Davis of StoreHub, a fintech company, said, “I think the event is extremely helpful for us, especially when our challenge right now is finding good and relevant candidates to fill in StoreHub and the quality of the candidates from WOBB has been extremely good.”
Through this career fair, candidates were able to interact comfortably with companies in a more casual setting that allows them to deepen the understanding of the work culture of a particular company better.
The Awesome Career Fair 4 was organised with the help of WOBB’s partners and sponsors, HRINCAMPUS, EasyUni.com, Supplycart, GuavaPass, Printcious, Dahmakan, ShopBack and DeliverEat.
