The event by Harvard University which Dr Raja was part of is yet another attempt at encouraging the involvement and work of budding entrepreneurs in the global healthcare field, for needs that have as of yet to be taken care of in the fight against disease and such.
Out of 200 global applicants, Dr Dhesi Baha Raja was amongst the top eight at Harvard University’s School of Public Health. Developed with a team of six, his work, AIME, an app, predicts a potential outbreak of disease within a 400 metre radius, three months before it may actually occur, in order to warn and assist people in taking precaution against it.
While this is the first time he received an award from the United States -- which he told The Star Online he was very glad about -- he has previously received numerous international awards for his dedicated and outstanding work in the field, such as by King’s College London earlier this year. He has also spoken at empowering conventions the likes of TedxYouth KL previously as well.
Currently, Dr Raja is pursuing his PhD at the University of Sarawak Malaysia and striving at work in Brazil in the prevention of dengue and the Zika virus, prevalent in areas there before the start of the Olympics in Rio next month.
