The region's leading education technology event, Bett Asia Leadership Summit and Expo 2016 was held for the first time in Kuala Lumpur on 15-16 November in Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur. In partnership with Microsoft, it was attended by more than 1,400 delegates from various education sectors in the region.

In his keynote speech, Anthony Salcito, Vice President of Worldwide Education of Microsoft, said, "In our fast-paced technology-driven world, digital transformation is disrupting most industries, economies, and the way we live."
“With the rise of the fourth industrial revolution, it is critical for the next generation of students to be equipped for future jobs, where they will need to adapt to new ways of creating, collaborating and connecting.
“This is where educators, optimising the use of technology, can transform teaching and learning to create immersive and inclusive experiences which inspire lifelong learning, and help stimulate the development of essential life skills.”

Supported by the Malaysian Ministry of Education, the event was officiated by Dato Seri Mahdzir Bin Khalid, Minister of the Education Ministry.
"We are truly delighted to welcome Bett Asia to Malaysia and to share the journey we are embarking on with the Malaysian Education Blueprint to develop entrepreneurial and holistically balanced graduates," said Dato Seri Mahdzir during his keynote speech.
He also added, "In sharing our own experiences, and hearing those of other nations gathered at this significant tech event, we can only strengthen the initiatives and actions we take to achieve our goal."

The Bett Asia Summit, with the theme "Educating for Global Citizenship," featured prominent speakers who discussed topics on preparing students to live in a globalised, interconnected world and the role technology plays in helping education systems to adapt.

Held concurrently, the Bett Asia Expo provided visitors with a closer look at today's cutting-edge education solutions and services, as well as seminars and workshops. These key developments aimed to improve productivity in today's classroom.
With the emergence of digitalisation, it is highly encouraged that schools and educators embrace the changes in this fast-paced world we live in. Adapting to the technological advancements ensures that students are prepared to face any challenges, with ample skills to survive in the digital age.
