Health minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam confirmed on September the 3th that a locally transmitted case of Zika virus caused its first death. A man who was infected with the Zika virus from Sabah succumbed to the virus because of pre-existing heart condition.
Now the education ministry wants schools to form teams to prevent the Zika virus from spreading. Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said that the teams were important to monitor the health of the students and teachers, and also to make sure the schools are clean.
After the opening of the Penampang UMNO divisional delegates meeting, Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid told reporters that parents should bring their children to the nearest hospital or health clinic if they show any of the known symptoms.
