About University of Florida

The University of Florida is an American public land-grant, sea-grant, and space-grant research university located on a 2,000-acre (8.1 km2) campus in Gainesville, Florida.

The University of Florida is ranked 17th overall among all public national universities in the current 2013 U.S. News & World Report rankings, and consistently ranks within the top 100 universities worldwide. The campus is served by 9 bus routes of the Gainesville Regional Transit System (RTS). Students, faculty, and staff with university-issued ID cards can use the system at no extra cost. The Amtrak Railroad does not have a station in Gainesville, but does have on in Palatka, and it takes about 40 minutes by car to reach the station. The University of Florida is also served by the Gainesville Regional Airport, which is approximately 30 minutes from the campus.
