Campus

Angelo State University’s 268 park-like acres of campus with groves of live oak, pecan and palm trees is situated in a residential neighborhood of San Angelo, the center of a West Texas community of more than 100,000 friendly people.

When you enroll at ASU, you’ll not only find yourself immersed in campus life, but you’ll become part of a community that supports and encourages its college students. San Angelo residents take pride in creating a distinctive community where people can engage in a number of outdoor activities, as well as enjoy shopping, restaurants and entertainment options. The city offers the amenities you would find in a large city with the convenience of a small town.

San Angelo offers a variety of entertainment options to fit your interests. With nearby Lake Nasworthy, you can go boating, fishing, wind sailing and wakeboarding. The ASU Lake House, along with the Outdoor Adventures program, also provides students with training and equipment to use at the lake. In addition, outdoorsy-types can enjoy hunting, camping and cycling in areas surrounding San Angelo.

For those who like the hustle and bustle of the city, San Angelo offers fun and funky downtown shopping at one-of-a-kind stores on Concho Avenue. And you may even want to check out Stephens Central Library, a new hub for the downtown area with its café and live music performances. If you’re a fan of live music, you’ll probably want to visit some of San Angelo’s dance clubs and pubs, where you’ll find every kind of music from Texas country and rockabilly to jazz and Tex Mex.

San Angelo also offers all of the big box stores and restaurant chains that you find in metropolitan areas, so you have options to meet your shopping and dining needs. The large multiplex movie theatre is also a popular entertainment destination.

And if you want an authentic West Texas experience, make plans to attend the annual San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo held every year during the last two weeks in February. It’s ranked in the top 10 largest rodeos in the U.S., and with all of the sights and sounds of the midway, there’s sure to be something for everyone to enjoy.
