In addition to a wide range of academic options, students can participate in more than 100 on-campus clubs and organizations – from The Bod Squad, which supports Washburn’s NCAA Division II athletic programs, to student government and beyond. Students, faculty and staff also can enjoy numerous volunteer, cultural and recreational opportunities throughout campus and the Topeka community.
Topeka, our capital city, is home to more than 127,000 people and a great variety of things to do. Shopping, dining, the arts, historical museums, the public library and state resources like the Kansas Center for the Book make our city vibrant.
And we’re not the only ones who think so. Topeka was named in 2010 by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance magazine one of the 10 Best Cities for the Next Decade.
Washburn University contributes immensely to the richness of life here. Many campus events, from concerts to lectures are free and open to the public. Others, such as plays and the Ichabod athletic contests draw great crowds for just the price of a ticket.
And because more than 6,900 students attend the university and more than 1,200 individuals work on campus, Washburn also contributes to the strong local economy.
