About University of Massachusetts - Lowell
The University of Massachusetts - Lowell (also known as UMass Lowell or UML) is a public research university. The University was founded in 1895 as the Lowell Normal School.
The campus offers its 16,300 students bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in business, engineering, education, fine arts, health and environment, humanities, liberal arts, sciences and social sciences.
UMass Lowell specifically was ranked 170th on the Tier 1 National University Ranking of the Best Colleges of 2013 according to the U.S. News & World Report.
For the 2013 Online College Rankings, UMass Lowell's online program was ranked 6th in the U.S. overall among online colleges on Guide to Online Schools'.
