About St. Joseph's College New York

St. Joseph's Brooklyn Campus challenges its approximately 1,200 students to develop their full potential and a joy of learning. With more than 400 faculty members, the College enjoys a student-to-faculty ratio that provides individual attention in an open, supportive atmosphere.

The College’s location in Brooklyn puts it at the center of one of the nation’s most diverse academic and cultural cities. The Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Brooklyn Public Library and the Brooklyn Museum of Art are all minutes away from the College’s doors.

With Manhattan just over the Brooklyn Bridge, students have quick and easy access to such world-renowned institutions as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the New York Public Library, Madison Square Garden, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.

Campus facilities include seven buildings and an outdoor theater across three blocks in the Clinton Hill neighborhood.

St. Joseph's remains dedicated to maintaining low costs while upholding a strict standard of excellence. While retention rates at most colleges are slipping, St. Joseph's remains above the national average.

Its academic strength hasn't gone unnoticed. The College is consistently recognized in U.S. News & World Report's annual "America's Best Colleges" issue.

Campus information

In contrast to the College’s historic brownstones, its library, McEntegart Hall, was named by the New York State education commissioner as an Electronic Doorway Library. The Dillon Child Study Center, a teaching facility for St. Joseph’s child study majors and a preschool for members of the community, was one of the first of its kind on the East Coast. Named after the College’s sixth president, S. Elizabeth A. Hill, C.S.J., J.D., the 40,000 square-foot Hill Center features a 270-seat, NCAA-regulation basketball and volleyball court, conference rooms, a dance studio, an outdoor terrace overlooking Vanderbilt Avenue, a fully-equipped sports medicine suite and a 90-car underground parking garage.

The university has 2 campuses located at Brooklyn and Long Island.
