About Salish Kootenai College

Salish Kootenai College (SKC) was formed in 1977, it is a Native American tribal college located in Pablo, Montana, United States. SKC's primary function is to serve the needs of Native American people, however the enrollment is not limited to Native American students.

SKC awards seven Bachelor's degree programs, 13 Associate degree programs, as well as seven certificate programs in a broad range of disciplines, which are Native American studies, building trades, business, dental assisting technology, digital and media arts, education, engineering, environmental science and forestry, information technology, nursing, psychology, social work, and vocational life skills.

Campus information

The main campus is based in the Flathead Reservation. There are also three satellite locations in Washington (Wellpinit, Colville, and Spokane). Facilities include the D’Arcy McNickle Library, labs and centers, bookstore, fitness center, deli, and accommodation.

SKC is situated in the center of the Flathead Indian Reservation in western Montana, surrounded by mountains on the east, west, and south. Public ski areas, such as Snow Bowl, Big Mountain and Marshall Ski area, are within two-hour drive away.


SKC offers safe, clean and affordable on-campus dorms and family housing. SKC has a total of 55 family housing units and a 42-bed dormitory.

These units are designated transitional for full-time students while they attend SKC.  The atmosphere is in harmony with that of acquiring an education and personal growth in a tribal college setting.

SKC Student Housing units and dormitory is located on the east side of campus, within walking distance of all classes on campus. The SKC student-housing department is located in the Student Services Building.
