About Randolph-Macon College

Randolph–Macon is a private, co-educational liberal arts college located 15 minutes north of Richmond in the scenic town of Ashland, Virginia.

R-MC enrolls nearly 1,400 undergraduate students, who pursue their academic paths in 54 areas of study (including majors, minors, pre-professional programs and other areas).

Randolph-Macon has a longstanding reputation for giving our students an “edge.”  R-MC integrates an outstanding liberal arts education and success strategies taught by extraordinary faculty mentors with a four year career preparation program called The Edge. Dedicated staff in The Edge Career Center, in concert with our faculty, work with students to develop a personalized Career Roadmap that provides them with a competitive advantage with their careers and when applying to graduate school.

Using resources at The Edge Career Center, R-MC students:

  • Network with alumni and business partners
  • Gain internship and other experience that contributes to their success
  • Participate in self-assessments
  • Build career skills

As a result of this systematic support, and because our exceptional faculty  are committed to each student, the college offers a Four-Year Degree Guarantee.

These groups support the overall mission of the college and are involved in numerous activities, which promote student growth and development by enriching the academic experiences and providing opportunities to explore community interests, publications and other avenues for involvement.

As you begin to explore the numerous opportunities to get involved, we encourage you to consider the following:

  • Participate - Student organizations are perfect outlets for you to try new things and meet new people. Discover the wonders of Chemistry even if you major in English. Join a choir, plan an event, manage an organization’s funds as a treasurer. Find the many ways that you can explore new things and practice the skills you learn in class.
  • Connect - Student organizations also provide opportunities to work with new people, develop your own sense of community, and to explore your interests. Work with a committee to bring a speaker to campus. Collaborate with other organizations to make your events bigger and better. Engage in and become part of the larger R-MC community.
  • Discover - Student organizations will also allow you to challenge what you know about yourself and the world. Discover your strengths and weaknesses and new ways to achieve excellence. Learn to be a leader and work for social change through your organizations. Constantly look for opportunities for self-evaluation and skill development.

Just 90 miles south of Washington, DC, and minutes outside of Richmond, Randolph-Macon College is ideally located in the scenic town of Ashland, Virginia — affectionately known as "the Center of the Universe" by those who live here.
