About Mississippi State University

The Mississippi State University of Agriculture and Applied Science, more commonly known as Mississippi State University (MSU), is a public university established in in 1878. The university is described by the Carnegie Foundation as a "comprehensive doctoral research university with very high research activity". The university also has campuses in Meridian, Boloxi and Vicksburg. The university is 4,200 acres wide, including farms, pastures, and woodlands of the Experiment Station.
