About Elizabethtown College
Elizabethtown College is a four-year, coeducational, private college located in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania. Established in 1899, it is affiliated with the Church of Brethren. Currently, it has 2,356 undergraduate students. The college competes in NCAA Division III athletics, and the school mascot is the Blue Jay. The mascot was chosen for its blue and gray coat (the school colors), and for its reputation as an aggressive, scrappy bird. The current president of the college is Carl J. Strikwerda. One weekend every fall, students, faculty and staff go “Into the Streets” of surrounding communities to engage in service-learning projects such as raking leaves for senior citizens and cleaning up the public parks. To help new students get acquainted with each other during fall orientation, the First-Year Walk has students walk around campus in lines of three, moving forward or backward in line by answering trivia questions.
