About Beacon College

For students who learn differently – those with diagnosed learning disabilities, dyslexia, ADHD and related conditions — that adventure can be tough. Frequently, they are asked to make do with a scattershot set of “accommodations” that are intended to level the playing field — but often leave gaps.

Beacon is the first accredited college offering four year degrees designed around the needs of students who learn differently. We offer both bachelor and associate degrees in an environment specifically created to help our students thrive and engineer amazing, abundant lives for themselves.

Campus information

Campus life at Beacon offers a full range of growth opportunities outside of the classroom from arts and intramural sports to leadership development opportunities. Students are given ample opportunities to learn, thrive, and grow.

At Beacon, we know how important it is for students to feel as if college is a home away from home. We strive to provide the most comfortable accommodations and a wide range of delicious, healthy food options to please all tastes.

Student housing includes 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units with cable, high-speed Internet (WIFI), and private parking. Laundry facilities are available at each housing complex, and many apartments have self contained units. The Beacon College Dining Hall, affectionately called “The Chopping Block,” serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily during the week, and meals until 1:00 p.m. on weekends.  Hot and cold meals are provided, and there’s even a self-service option for snacks.

Transportation is available for students who want to go shopping, or visit area attractions, such as Disney World and Universal Studios.

Campus Entertainment and Activities

Students in Beacon enjoy participating in a wide range of activities outside the academic realm. Knowing how important it is for students to have options that appeal to them, all clubs are student organized and change each semester based on current interests. Students have opportunities to participate in sports, clubs, and special events. Leadership opportunities abound on campus so motivated students can gain professional skills while enjoying themselves!

The Beacon College campus is located in historic downtown Leesburg. Main Street is lined with classic historical buildings, a new public library, quaint restaurants, gift shops, antique stores, and a variety of local businesses.

Leesburg is a city in Lake County, Florida, United States. The population was 15,956 at the 2000 census. As of 2005, the population recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau is 19,086.[3] Leesburg is located in central Florida, between Lake Harris and Lake Griffin, at the head of the Oklawaha River system. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford Metropolitan Statistical Area. Leesburg is the home of Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) with campuses also in Clermont, Florida and Sumterville, Florida. It is also the home of Beacon College.
