What can you do after studying International Relations at Sussex ISC?

            

International relations and international development are at the heart of many important issues today.

These are the matters that concern citizens, governments and charities across the world. International Relations graduates can go on to make a real difference in a range of ways, at home and abroad.

Generally, careers in international affairs exist across three sectors: public, private and non-profit/NGO. You can expect to find work within NGOs, think tanks, governments, international organisations, multinational companies, development consulting firms and more.

At Sussex International Study Centre you’ll find two courses to help you begin your International Relations studies here in the UK:

International Foundation Year in Law, International Relations and Sociology

A two-semester course that prepares international students thoroughly for an undergraduate degree at the University of Sussex. Upon successful completion of the course you’ll be given a guaranteed place on one of a range of degrees, including:

  • International Relations
  • Politics and International Relations
  • International Relations and a Language
  • Economics and International Relations
  • International Relations and Anthropology
  • International Relations and Development
  • International Relations and Sociology

Pre-Masters in International Relations and International Development

A one- or two-semester course that prepares international students for a postgraduate degree at the University of Sussex. Complete this course and you can enter directly onto one of the following taught Masters degrees at the University of Sussex:

  • Anthropology
  • Anthropology of Development and Social Transformation
  • Conflict, Security and Development
  • Environment, Development and Policy
  • Gender, Violence and Conflict
  • Geopolitics and Grand Strategy
  • Global Governance
  • Global Political Economy

Sussex is home to one of the oldest International Relations departments in the UK. It is ranked 7th in the UK for the quality of its research and publications, in the latest Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), carried out in 2008.
