About University of Huddersfield
Campus information
Huddersfield University’s campus is located in the county of Yorkshire in England, which was voted as one of the world’s best destinations by Lonely Planet. Surrounding this beautiful countryside are big cities like Leeds and Manchester, which are easily accessible through public transportation and are only 20 to 35 minutes away from the campus.
With more than a £100 million investment on facilities, the campus is filled with beautiful architecture that captures Huddersfield University’s heritage and modernity with the university’s historic and contemporary buildings. To give students an edge in their learning, the university also provides state-of-the-art laboratories, studios and workshops with specialised equipment and resources that encompass multiple fields of study.
Students’ every need is met as campus facilities include cafés and restaurants that offer cuisine from around the world, a gym and a library which also supplies an extensive amount of material online. These facilities and more can be found in Student Central, the university’s learning and leisure centre which also provides services for issues concerning jobs, finance, wellbeing and disability.
Accommodation
Students can book accommodation with DIGS Student, Huddersfield University’s approved accommodation provider. DIGS Student offers accommodation in two places, Storthes Hall Park Student Village and Ashenhurst Student Houses.
Storthes Hall Park Student Village
Students live in flats with a shared kitchen and dining area. Various bedroom types ranging from classic to premium are offered to meet different budgets and needs. Besides facilities such as a mini supermarket, gym and laundrette, this student village also features a hub for students’ leisure and learning activities called The Venue, which is complete with a bar and café, games room, cinema room and study room. With 24-hour on-site security and over 1300 students staying at the village every year, students can be assured of the village’s safe and vibrant environment. A regular shuttle bus runs between the university and Storthes Hall every day, with a commute time of 15 to 20 minutes.
Ashenhurst Student Houses
Students have their own rooms in the houses, and share kitchen and bathroom facilities. Situated within a serene parkland and populated by a smaller community of 280 students, Ashenhurst Houses are for students who prefer a quieter life. In addition to the vast space of Ashenhurst’s parkland area which is great for sports, barbeque parties and picnics, students living here are closer to the university and town centre. Students can walk to these locations within 10 minutes or utilise the regular public bus service. The site is also under CCTV surveillance to ensure students’ safety.
