Entry Requirements

Foundation Degree in a related subject or Higher National Diploma or 2 years, one at Level 4 and the other at Level 5 of Honours Degree work in a related discipline achieved at 'Pass' standard or above. Transferable/Key Skills may be used to contribute to the entry requirement but they are not sufficient for entry on their own. Career experience plus evidence of study skills may also be considered. Applicants with alternative equivalent qualifications will be considered positively - please enquire at the College.

Curriculum

Overview of Course Content

  • Strategic Management - Machinery sales and service is now a global industry. This module aims to provide the strategic management skills required within a company, to allow it to be competitive and to maintain credibility within this sector. This basis of this module applies to any industry and would be a useful asset to any employer. 
  • Quality Assurance and Manufacturing Standards - The module addresses the implications regarding: factors in meeting the minimum standard of Quality Assurance; analysing and evaluating added value; evaluating the results of performance and effectiveness; assessing the value of continual improvement and quantitative measurement. 
  • Industry Project (double module) - The module aims to provide the student with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, experience and skills needed for project management, allowing the student to face and address real challenges. It is envisaged that the individual student will choose between a technical project, or an organisational management project. 
  • Fleet Vehicle Management - Enables the student to: establish the criteria for managing a company vehicle policy; design and develop a vehicle management policy; gain a thorough knowledge of driver hours, operator certification and licence requirements; gain a knowledge and understanding of vehicle insurance and transport legislation. 
  • International Trade Logistics - Many factors are considered, including: export finance; funding for goods sold; credit guarantee; cost effective transportation; border crossing; visa application; import and export licence; load regulations; role in supply chain management, and freight tracking.
