About National Tsing Hua University

The University of National Tsing Hua is situated in Hsinchu, Taiwan which is in the south of Taipei. The campus spread over the 105 hectares (250 acres) of land, surrounded with lakes and trees. There are nearby  such as the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center (NSSRC), National Center for High-Performance Computing (NCHC), Food Industry Research and Development Institute (FIRDI), National Chiao Tung University (NCTU), Chung-Hua University (CHU), National Hsinchu Education University (NHEU), and the Hsinchu Science-Based Industrial Park (HSIP). Hsinchu is known 'Science city of Taiwan'.

National Tsing Hua has 7 colleges, 17 departments and 18 independent graduate institutes, namely the College of Science, Engineering, Nuclear Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, Life Science, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and the College of Technology Management. The university’s general education curricula is supervised by the Commission for General Education. NTHU has over 644 full-time faculty members as its employees. More than 11,942 students, around 6,233 undergraduates, 3,916 master candidates and 1,793 for doctoral candidates as of data of the first semester 2014. The student-faculty ratio is 18:1 and male to female students is 2.1:1.

There are two house guest available for visitors from abroad: Guest House I and Guest House II

  • Short-term stay

Visiting scholars, parents of current NTHU faculty and parents of current NTHU students, also alumni are welcome to apply for accommodation for one month or less. Parents who wish to stay in the Guest House must show their child’s student identification card and alumni must be presented with their alumni identification card or verification from the Office of the Secretariat.

  • Long-term stay

Available for (1) newly employed members, (2) visiting faculty members and (3) other invitees of NTHU.
