About Korea University

Korea University is a private research university located in Seoul, South Korea. It was established in 1905, making it the oldest institution of higher education in South Korea, it is widely regarded as one of the top private universities in the country. The student body consists of over 20,000 undergraduate students and 5,000 graduate students. The university’s academic breadth is extensive with its 81 departments in 19 colleges and divisions, and 18 graduate schools and it has over 1,500 full-time faculty members with over 95% of them holding Ph. D. or equivalent qualification in their field. The Korea University Alumni Association consists of more than 280,000 university graduates.

Admission to the undergraduate program is highly competitive and the admission decisions are based on the applicants' high school transcripts and scores on the South Korean College Scholastic Ability Test. For the freshman class entering in 2012, Korea University received 90,062 undergraduate applications and admitted 4,326 (4.80%) of the applicants.

Campus information

KU campus covers over 182 acres and its home to more than 35,000 students from all over the nation and the world. With its stately stone architecture sprawling lawns, seasonal trees and natural flora, KU is known to be one of the most beautiful campuses in Korea.

There are six libraries, several impressive halls, museum, and an olympic-sized ice rink.

KU campuses are easily accessible by public transport.
