The SMU campus is located in the central part of the island at a 4.5 hectare city campus. It is located in the civic district of the city. The campus has six blocks. The six buildings are connected by an underground walkway known as the Concourse, which is open to the public and lined with shops.
Teaching facilities include seminar rooms, class rooms, computer labs and group study rooms used by students for project discussions. There are research facilities scattered throughout the University including a swimming pool, gymnasium, and a multipurpose sports hall which is equipped with a rock wall.
Singapore has a well-organized public transportation service. Getting around Singapore is easy and convenient. Many parts of Singapore are easily accessible via public buses and MRT. Fares can be paid by cash or EZ-Link card which can be used for both the MRT and public buses.
SMU Residences @ Prinsep, is a hostel for students which is located on Prinsep Street. The hostel was created by refurbishing three Housing Development Board blocks donated by the government. The hostel was officially opened in February 2007 and can accommodate about 250 residents. The hostel is located near Holland Village which is known for its cosmopolitan array of restaurants and cafes. Priority is given to international students, most of whom live in various private hostels around the island.
To further enhance students' experience of communal hostel life, there are common facilities, such as laundry and meeting rooms. Residents can also look forward to informal gatherings at the hostel's lounge and BBQ pits. Facilities include:
