About Warsaw School of Photography and Graphic Design

Professional and Artistic Studies in Photography and Graphic Design
In partnership with the Warsaw University of Humanities, we propose Bachelor of Arts programmes in Photography and Graphic Design and a Master of Arts programme in Photography. We also propose professional and artistic studies in Photography and Graphic Design. Our B.A. and M.A. degrees conform to the regulations of the European Commission.

Founded in 2000, the Warsaw School of Photography and Graphic Design has established itself as one of the best and well-known private higher education schools in Poland. Its reputation is swiftly spreading in Europe and other continents. We have students and alumni coming from Austria, Belgium, Brasil, France, Germany, Great Britain, Iceland, Italy, Russia, South Africa, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine.

The Warsaw School of Photography and Graphic Design is located in Warsaw, a dynamic city in Central Europe offering a lively cultural and art scene. The important cultural capitals Berlin, Vienna, Prague, Budapest and Vilnius situated within 550 km. of Warsaw are  easily accessed. Courses for international students are taught in English. Students from Slavic Europe have the choice of studying in English or Polish. Our program focuses on two directions:

  1. Training students as photographers and/or graphic designers who can work in their professions and satisfy the demands of their employers and customers.
  2. Giving a solid artistic education which will help develop the students’ visual sensitivity and creativity, encouraging them to acquire an original vision.

Our program is carried out by implementing a thorough curriculum integrating theory and practice. Our faculty consists of top professors from the famous National Film School in Łódź, the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, the University of Arts in Poznan, as well as internationally known artists and accomplished professionals in their fields.

Campus information

The school is located in central Warsaw, near the Vistula river, and is easily accessible by public transportation. Its modern facilities include fully equipped classrooms and photography studios, a complete computer center, a gallery, a library, a black and white archival darkroom, wireless connection to internet and a café.

Warsaw is an exciting and booming European capital with over 1.7 million inhabitants. It is situated on the Vistula river between the Baltic Sea and the Tatra Mountains. There are about 300.000 higher education students in Warsaw and among them several thousand foreigners. Many young Poles speak English and are very helpful to foreigners. They generate an atmosphere of openness, warmth and friendliness.

The Polish capital presents a mixture of beautiful historical and modern buildings contrasting with the style of social realism. Its old town is included in UNESCO’s World Heritage list.  Famous architects have designed some of Warsaw’s contemporary skyscrapers, museums and office buildings. It’s cultural life and art scene is very rich and diversified: international film, theater and music festivals; pop, rock, jazz, opera and classical concerts with world renowned guests; traditional and contemporary art  museums and galleries; cinemas presenting international film premieres and movie art houses showing important works from the history of cinema.  Warsaw is a very lively city with crowded discotheques, clubs, pubs, beer gardens and cafés spread all over. The choice is overwhelming. The city’s exhilarating night life is ideal for partygoers, attracting many foreign visitors and tourists.

The city’s restaurants offer traditional slavic and international cuisines for every pocket, from a Michelin starred restaurant to “milk bars” – often frequented by students – serving low budget and tasty food. There are many stores selling health food. Warsaw is friendly to vegetarians and vegans.

The capital city has an entire network of public transportation – metro, buses, tramcars, local trains – which facilitates traveling without a car in the city and to surroundings areas. To relax in Warsaw, there are parks, gardens and forests occupying 21 percent of its area within the city borders. The most charming Łazienki Park is situated next to the Warsaw School of Photography and Graphic Design.

Accommodation

Living in Warsaw is 63% cheaper than in London. The cost of living depends on individual needs and lifestyle. Approximately 600 to 800 Euro per month is needed to cover the cost of accommodation, transportation and food. If you live very modestly, you could get by with 500 Euro per month.

Flats: private or shared
There are many apartments for rent available in Warsaw. The price of the rent depends on how far the flat is located from the center of Warsaw, on the number of rooms, surface area, standards and on whether you want to live by yourself or share the apartment with one or several persons. Please let us know your choice and your budget for the rent. We will send you the necessary contacts with owners and check the flat.

Dormitories
There are many university dormitories in Warsaw at reasonable prices. The sooner you make a reservation, the better the room you can get. So please hurry up if you have chosen this option.

Youth Hostels
There is a large number of possibilities. In some of them, you may stay as long as you want and use their kitchen facilities. Just as with dormitories, the sooner you make a reservation, the better the room you get. So please hurry up if you have chosen this option. Students from the European Union and EFTA (Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein) may arrange, if they wish, their own accommodation at the beginning of their stay in Warsaw. Meanwhile they may live in a youth hostel while looking for convenient housing.

Candidates outside the EU and EFTA have to show proof of accommodation in Warsaw when applying for a student visa to their local Polish Consulate.

IMPORTANT: All successful applicants should let us know their choice of accommodation and budget for rent as soon as possible. We will send the list of necessary contacts with owners, check the flat, etc.
