About University of Reading Malaysia

The University of Reading began as an extention for the University of Oxford in 1860. From this time, UoRM was a college until 1926, when the Royal Charter created the University of Reading and making it the only university to be granted a charter between the two world wars.

In 1945, Henley Management College was established, the first business school in the UK, which becomes part of the university in 2008 and renamed to Henley Business School.

Afterwards, in 2011, UoR was invited by the Ministry of Higher Education in Malaysia to establish an overseas campus in Iskandar, Johor. After delivering foundation and undergraduate degrees from its teaching center in Johor Bahru, University of Reading Malaysia  (UoRM) opens a campus in 2015: EduCity@Iskandar.

Students are offered a high quality and up-to-date approach of learning. During their study at UoRM, students get the oppurtunity to have access to available scholarships and spend up to one year of studies in the UK. The University of Reading Malaysia is UoR UK's first overseas campus and it's ranked among the world's top 1 percent of universities. The approach to teaching is aimed for students to get the best results and to improve in their chosen fields of study.

Campus information

The campus on EduCity - a state of the art, architecturally stunning campus environment perfect for studying and networking.

  • The design for the campus made the finals in the World Architecture Festival Awards in 2013
  • The campus is integrated, self-contained space that combines flexible teaching, research and learning spaces with inspiring social spaces.   Highlights include state of the art laboratories, a world-class Learning and Resource Centre and four lecture theatres to enable experiential learning and group projects
  • The Heartspace – the central parkland space between the two buildings – came from the idea to emulate the open, natural space of the University of Reading’s Whiteknight’s campus in the UK, but translate this for a tropical setting. The Heartspace is now a plant-filled space for students to relax and socialise.  There is also an amphitheatre for talks, live music and events
  • Leisure facilities on EduCity include a 12,000 seat stadium and indoor arena offering basketball, badminton, squash, volleyball and futsal, plus an aquatic centre with an Olympic sized swimming pool
  • The Student Village offers halls of residence, cafes, restaurants, healthcare, a library and shops.
