Encircled In Harmony 2014

 

“Encircled in Harmony” aims to channel the creativity and exuberance of youths in finding innovative ways to conserve the environment and help the less fortunate. With this in mind, The Design School in Saito College decided to integrate arts as an ingenious approach in instilling a strong sense of social responsibility in young minds. Encircled in Harmony was initially launched in 2012 and has subsequently been organised on a yearly basis. The “Encircled in Harmony 2014” competition, organized by Saito College exclusively for over 60,000 students from 61 Independent Chinese Secondary Schools in Malaysia, was launched in January 2014.

 


GOLD WINNER: Keat Hwa High School, Alor Setar (Kedah)

 

The first place of the Encircled in Harmony 2014 was awarded to the students of Keat Hwa High School with the title “The Reading Light” with an aim to promote the habit of reading among the youths. Participating students were Li Fuk Fai, Lim Xiang Xu, Yung Meng Hua, Tay Yi, Cheng Jia Zhi and their teacher advisor Ms. Goh Hui Yuan.

 


SILVER WINNER: Chung Hwa Middle School No.1, Kuching (Sarawak)

 

Hailing from the Land Below the Wind, students from the Chung Hwa Middle School No. 1 has taken home the Silver Award for this year’s Encircled in Harmony with the title of their campaign being “Recycling My Homeland”. Elwin Wong Chi Hui, Chin Weng Sing, Katty Chai, Joelynn Lim Dao Yee and Chong Pik Fang each brought homeRM14,800 worth scholarship to study any design programmes offered by Saito College. Chung Hwa Middle School No. 1 received Cash Prize worth RM3,500, Crystal Trophy, Canon Digital IXUS 230HS and PowerShot A25000 which was represented by their teacher advisor Ms. Lee Woan Ling.

 


BRONZE WINNER: Yik Ching High School, Manjung (Perak)

 

Khor Yik Wen, Ng Wei Chien, Ng Yee Lian, Ling Zhi Qin and Teoh Xin Yuan were among the winners of the Bronze Award for the Encircled in Harmony 2014. They were guided by their teacher advisor Mr. Teow Huck Soo leading a campaign titled “An Unfulfilled Dream Came True”. Each participants has been awarded RM14,800 worth scholarship to study any design programmes offered by Saito College and Yik Ching High School received Cash Prize worth RM2,800, Crystal Trophy, Canon Digital IXUS 230HS and PowerShot A25000.
