BAC’s A-Level Students Receive Top in the World Awards for 5th Consecutive Year!

For the fifth year running, Brickfields Asia College (BAC) A-Level students have received the prestigious Outstanding Cambridge Learner Award for their excellent results in the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) series.

Express Route student Low Zhao Lin scored the highest marks in the world for A-Level Law at the November 2016 exams, while Standard Route student James Tan Yik Keown scored the highest marks in the world for AS Level Law.

Zhao Lin, a shy yet focussed young woman, credited her achievement to her dedicated lecturers who encouraged her by marking her practice answers and gave her detailed feedback on how she could improve. “I have been very satisfied with BAC from my very first day and I have never experienced a moment of regret since then” continued Zhao Lin, “The study manuals were great and my lecturers are very experienced and I love them.” She also paid special tribute to Mr. Aria “as his materials were very meticulously prepared and especially useful were his notes and suggested answers which were well researched and he did them himself despite his very busy schedule.”

Reminiscing about the day she received her results, Zhao Lin said “I didn’t expect to win this award. When I received my results, my friends and Mr Aria told me that I may win this award but I thought someone else would win it even though I had the highest marks in my class.”

Tenacious and methodological, James Tan is an avid cat lover and anime fan who chose BAC because he could follow his passion for volleyball whilst studying for his A-Levels. “I spent most of my time in the amazing 24 hour library studying but I also joined the Volleyball Club, the Model United Nations Club and the Japanese Culture Club” continued James. He went on to recall his surprise when he learnt that he had won the Cambridge Outstanding Learner Award for Top Student in the World for AS Level Law; “I was at Monster Fit and I got a call from Mr. Gobinath. I thought he was calling me about my attendance but I was stunned when he told me I won this prize. My first thought was ‘How I can surprise my parents?’!” James also paid tribute to his lecturers “who all have an amazing sense of humour and made classes quite fun, especially Ms. Shanthi who really kept us going and is very patient”.
