This programme seeks to build specialised knowledge in the field of Software Engineering (SE). It introduces students to the essential ideas and procedures of SE, which are critical to the effective development of systems capable of meeting evolving business needs. Students will be able to supplement their expertise with elective modules covering domain-related areas such as natural language processing, data management, and big data analytics.
This degree is designed for practicing software engineers in industry who want to obtain formal software engineering qualifications. Elective modules may be pre-selected for students at the beginning of the semester. If students wish to change these pre-selected elective modules, they can choose from the available modules offered in the semester OR among the intensive delivery modules - however, such changes may prolong the study duration
Dissertation
Students are encouraged to complete industry-based major projects/ dissertations that are directly relevant to their work and their organisation or any substantial idea from the modules taken. The project emphasis should involve the derivation of criteria for the selection of software engineering processes, methods and tools. It would be expected that a software prototype, review of current practices or specifications should be produced.
