Accommodation

UTAS offers a wide range of affordable accommodation for students. On-campus apartments and dormitories offer single bedrooms and the option of cooking for yourself, or eating in the UTAS restaurant. More than 80% of international students either live on campus, or within walking distance.

The cost of living in both Hobart and Launceston is dependent on a student's lifestyle and budgeting skills. Many of our students advise that their cost of living ranges between A$12,000 and A$14,500 annually (covering accommodation, transport, food, electricity etc.).

Campus

The University of Tasmania (UTAS) was established in 1890. UTAS is a medium sized university offering the benefits of smaller classes, personalised attention, and good access to supervisors and administrative staff. UTAS has over 26,000 students, including 3,000 international students from more than 100 countries.

As well as providing many sought-after programs such as computing, engineering, architecture, health sciences and law, UTAS is Australia’s national centre for maritime-related education, training and research through the Australian Maritime College (AMC).
