“As far as my ministry is concerned, we have been recruiting UEC holders as government servants. The problem only lies with enrolment in local public universities,” says Deputy Education Minister Chong Sin Woon as quoted by The Star newspaper.
The Ministry has been accepting UEC holders for the past 3 years. Many students of Chinese independent schools would take at least six subjects for SPM in their fifth year.
To qualify, interested candidates must have A-, A, and A in any of the five SPM subjects and must obtain minimum grade credits in Bahasa Malaysia, English and History.
Online application for Bachelors of Education or Program Ijazah Sarjana Muda Perguruan (PISMP) usually begins in February and ends in March. This application opening is announced on leading newspapers and the Ministry of Education website (www.moe.gov.my)
