Malaysian Universities Among The Top 50 World Ranking In Two Subjects

According to QS World University Ranking by subject 2015, it is revealed that Universiti Malaya’s Development Studies and Universiti Sains Malaysia’s Environmental Science have made it to the top 50 universities in worldwide rankings. UM is at the 32nd place while USM is at the 31st place for the respective subjects.
The ranking had University Malaya (UM) at 151st place, followed by University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) at 259th and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) at 294th which is also a consolation since universities from Malaysia failed to make it to the top 100 of the QS university ranking in 2014.
In addition, QS who published the latest ranking according to subjects also stated that UM made into the top 100 for six other subjects: mechanical, aeronautical and manufacturing engineering; electrical and electronic engineering; chemical engineering; linguistics; English language and literature and architecture (built environment).
Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) has also made into the top 100 ranking for five subjects namely chemical engineering, mechanical, aeronautical and manufacturing engineering, electrical and electronic engineering; development studies and architecture (built environment).
Not wanting to fall behind, in the top 100 is UPM’s agriculture and forestry together with UTM’s chemical engineering and architecture (built environment) subjects.
UTM has also qualified to cover the top 150 of the ranking for mechanical; aeronautical and manufacturing engineering; electrical and electronic engineering and civil and structural engineering subjects.
In the statement made, it is said that eight (8) Malaysian universities are listed within 23 subjects and strong representation in all engineering subjects with at least seven (7) Malaysian institutions that are featured.
UM has made into the rankings for 23 subjects which then followed by UPM (19), USM (18), UKM (16), UTM (10), Universiti Teknologi Petronas (4), Universiti Teknologi Mara (3), Multimedia University (2), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn (1) and Universiti Utara Malaysia (1).
