Despite a tough year full of challenges and controversial issues, Malaysia is still one of the happiest countries in the world. This is based on the WHR score obtained through the analysis of personal life evaluations. Malaysia has an average score of 6.005 out of 10,  from the information collected via the examination of six components namely, gross domestic product (GDP) per capita, healthy years of life expectancy, social support, trust, perceived freedom to make life decisions and generosity.

Based on the WHR by the United Nations, the largest contribution of the nation’s happiness comes from GDP per capita (31%), followed by 26% of social support - measured by having someone to count on in hard times. Other factors include 18% of healthy life expectancy, 12% of perceived freedom, 8% of generosity measured by recent donations and then 5% of trust measured by perceived absence of corruption.
