7 Signs That You Are A UiTM Student

You Have Been At Least Once To Laman Seni

Because why not? Laman Seni (“Art” in English) is KL’s spin of Penang’s street art located in Georgetown. And since the UiTM is within Seksyen 7 it is a no-brainer that most students would get to their own “photoshoots” and if you are lucky, a friend might have even bought a selfie-stick. As Malaysians, don’t we just love taking photos?

Love And Hate With Parking Spots, Tickets and Clamps

The fact remains the same that UiTM is identical in all branches, be it in Johor, Melaka, Kelantan or even Sabah and Sarawak - parking translates to pain. UiTM has a strict policy of where both students and lecturers are not allocated enough parking space resulting to taking a bus to/from class or worse walking for a long distance; and Ooops...not to mention the mountain climbing (*cue in a Miley Cyrus song). But hey, at least you get free exercise. And I don’t know about you but the police in campus do get creative sometimes (IFYWIM).

Your Favorite Hangout Place In Between Classes Is iCity or Setia City

Let’s face it, how can we control ourselves in not going to these places? Especially if your next class in six (6) hours. Malls have free air conditioning, and at most cases free Wi-Fi (because Hey! Campus WiFi needs help - in other words, you are better off with your mobile data). If you are bored you can watch a movie, have your lunch or some snacks, go bowling and if there is still enough time - we can still do Karaoke. The only drawback? If you are lazy to drive or have no means of transport, there’s a free bus every hour. Raise your hands if you waited for a long time for that bus! I know I did!

UiTM is Uni-Culture

This is the one thing that makes UiTM well known to Malaysians and also internationally, that is the fact that it is unicultural, also known as having only indigenous or Malay students in the entire UiTM. I have to admit it is pretty boring, not being able to make friends from other races studying together. I can go a long way talking about this in general, students that come to UiTM main aim is to study and learn for a better future not to socialize entirely.

A Friend Invites You To Study In Khalifa or McD Almost Everytime

Procrastinating is (mostly) a student’s second career, so having to stay up the whole night before the exam paper tomorrow at 9 in the morning is completely normal. The panda eyes are a must in a student life package so you can’t really avoid that. And this all happens either in Khalifa, McD, PTAR or your room. Am I right?

Our Campus Fashionistas (Fashion Idols)

Hands down the Law and Mass Communication students of UiTM would take over this award if there is one given by the campus. These courses have a certain dress code and style is what they don’t lack. Some goes as far as wearing designer labels  while some go for their brand of choice whichever suits them while having classes. It seems that they are always ready for a close-up or going for TV appearances. So good on how they look, sometimes I want to wear something really nice, because sharing is caring.

And One Thing That All UiTM Hate: Replacement Classes!

As common as it may sounds, the tests do come faster and at unexpected times which caught students off guard and not knowing how to react to a surprise test or the fact that nobody is ready despite  being informed one week earlier. Another popular norm here are the replacement classes. Students tend to enjoy the cancelled ones but cringe later knowing they have to replace it - and yes even during Saturday and Sundays.
